Group Presentation

Strategy & Objectives

Since its spin-off in 2006, Arkema has undergone a profound transformation of its profile to position itself in specialty businesses and strengthen its competitiveness.

Having become a major player in Specialty Materials, and with the ambition to offer innovative and sustainable solutions, Arkema has now a portfolio of cutting-edge technologies ideally positioned to capture opportunities linked to global megatrends.

A know-how centered on materials science and organized around three segments

The Group has thus developed three strong capabilities in materials science: creating and strengthening materials, assembling and bonding them, and finally, protecting and modifying them.

These capabilities are structured into three coherent and complementary segments that make up Specialty Materials: Advanced Materials, Adhesive Solutions and Coating Solutions.

The existing synergies between these three segments are reinforced by the deployment of the One Arkema culture, which aims to share industrial, technological and commercial expertise across the different Business Lines.

A new development phase focused on organic growth

Building on this strategic repositioning and its stronger profile, the Group unveiled, at its 2023 Capital Markets Day, a new phase in its development, primarily focused on organic growth.

Arkema has therefore invested in several major projects, strengthening its portfolio of high valueadded technological solutions in attractive market segments such as green energy and electric mobility, sustainable consumer goods, advanced electronics, as well as efficient buildings and homes.

Recently, the Group has started up new units and several capacity expansions, located mainly in Asia and the United States, regions with stronger growth.

These investments include notably the new bio-based PA11 plant in Singapore, PVDF capacity expansions in China, the United States and France, capacity expansions of DMDS in the United States and of Sartomer in China, as well as the new 1233zd unit in the United States.
